Usability Project: A School Report

Executive Summary

Overview
Customers who use papajohns.com to order food online may encounter different interface issues affecting their experience and overall satisfaction. To identify these problems, we developed a usability project based on specific tasks. This report provides the details of the usability study, results of the analyses, and implications to the website.

Methodology
The UX team conducted four (4) usability sessions to gain insights on whether the papajohn.com website works as intended. The tasks that users were asked to do include:

  • Task 1: Ordering different types of pizzas using papajohns.com (i.e., specific ingredients, half-and-half, and specialty pizzas).
  • Task 2: Signing up for deals and coupons without registering.
  • Task 3: Contacting corporate office to submit a complaint.

Participants were recruited through colleagues/classmates. The sessions were recorded and analyzed.

Analysis
Recordings of the usability sessions were analyzed using a combined quantitative and qualitative approach. We try to answer the following questions:

  • What interface issues did people encounter? Where did people struggle?
  • What were the different ways people took to do the tasks?

Key Findings

  1. Users are not able to sign up for deals and coupons without registering or creating an account.
  1. Customers tend to start their online pizza orders through the “Create Your Own Pizza” section.
  1. Some users struggled finding the sauce options when building their pizza.
  1. One participant was not able to find a specialty pizza.
  1. One participant was not able to find the contact information of the corporate office within the website.
